Work History: | Previously, Mrs. Smith taught elementary education in public schools from 1965 through 1983. She joined the literacy Program and became an academic advisor in Peoria, Illinois from 1985 through 1989. She then taught 5th grade at the Peoria Christian School from 1990 through 1996, during which time she represented ACSI traveling to Russia in 1992 and 1996 as a counselor with the student exchange program. She was with the commission after the Berlin wall came down and taught Russian teachers. In 1996, Mrs. Smith traveled to Egypt as special assignment missionaries and as a teacher. She has served as a co-director of the nonprofit for 13 years while living in Cairo suburb. She was responsible for writing the curriculum, training refugees how to teach in their respective fields, including medical, technology, marketing, horticulture, bible and other fields. She supervised those who educated over 1,000 students each year. |
