Work History: Ms. Knight served as Nurse-Midwife from 1979 through 2001. She was Nurse-Midwife from 1994 to 1996 with the 10th Medical Group, USAF Academy, Colorado and from 1991 to 1994 with the 416th Medical Group, Griffiss AFB, Rome, New York. Ms. Knight was an instructor from 1984 to 1991 with the USAF Nurse-Midwifery Program at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center, Andrews AFB, Maryland, where she also held a joint clinical faculty appointment with the Georgetown University School of Nursing. From 1979 to 1984, Ms. Knight was Nurse-Midwife with the USAF Regional Hospital, Langley AFB, Virginia. She served as a Staff Nurse in the obstetrical unit, labor and delivery department, general surgical floor and newborn nursery with various hospitals in Louisiana, Texas and Virginia from 1972 to 1976.

Career Accomplishments: Ms. Knight retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. in 1996 after 20 years of active service. She was one of very few midwives. She was a Maternal Child Flight Leader from 1994 to 1996 with the 10th Medical Group, USAF Academy, Colorado. She was responsible for managing obstetrical, gynecological and pediatric services as the OB-Gyn Department Chair, overseeing 650 births per year. She is a Certified Grief Counselor. Ms. Knight was the Air Combat Command Surgeon General's Consultant for Nurse-Midwifery from 1993 to 1994 and a clinical preceptor for student nurse-midwives, student nurses and physician assistant students from 1992 to 2001. She served as Chairman of the American College of Nurse Midwives, Region 2, Chapter 6, from 2000 to 2001.
